Cloudy Crumble

Over a semester-long project, our class created a Match 3 game called Cloudy Crumble. As part of the design team, I played an important role in shaping the game's identity and user experience. My work involved: creating the idea of the game, making gameplay flows for the game, designing the logo, creating wireframes for the tutorial, helping write dialog, and assisting with general design tasks.

I created the Game Play Flow Diagram, Tutorial Flow Diagram, Economy Diagram, Map Interactions flow chart, and Regions flow chart with the help of a fellow designer. These diagrams helped with the overall gameplay and allowed the team to visualize gameplay.

I created the logo for the game, as well as guidelines that set the stage for the colors, typography, and art in the game.

I created a level layout guideline for how levels could be set up in the gameplay.

Here are the simple wireframes I created for the tutorial section of the game. The wireframing helps the other teams to create the art and code for the tutorial.

The play button and tutorial dialog were created to be the largest so they are the main focus and accessible to both hands.

The initial idea was created by me, and eventually implemented, and changed to fit the final game.

The class brainstormed over the storyline, topic, and characters.

Final Thoughts

I have discovered so much about what goes into the process of game design. As part of the design team, I received hands-on experience and worked together to create an amazing end result. If I could do anything differently, I would take more time on the wireframes and have more communication with the art team about needed assets. Overall, it was an amazing and insightful experience.
